Our Anti-Racism Commitment
At WellSpace Maine, we recognize racism as a systemic issue of privilege, inequality, and oppression based on perceived categorical differences. This system manifests politically, socially, economically, culturally, interpersonally, and intrapersonally in the history of the United States.
Our Approach to Anti-Racism
Since our inception, WellSpace Maine has prioritized promoting knowledge, values, and skills that empower clinicians to identify, critically analyze, and intervene against racism's insidious effects. We cultivate a therapy community that respects diverse worldviews and acknowledges everyone's equal place in the world. Through ongoing self-reflection and dialogue, we continually examine how issues of race impact our organization, roles as therapists, supervisors, community members, and individuals.
Ongoing Anti-Racism Work
Currently, WellSpace Maine is conducting an anti-racism audit. We are critically evaluating our policies, procedures, hiring practices, theoretical orientations, training program, and clinical practices to dismantle systems of privilege within our organization. We remain committed to continuous learning and deepening our anti-racism efforts.
